FAQ

Q. What is runs for ted?

A. Runs for Ted is a fundraiser benefitting GiGi's Playhouse of Phoenix.  It started as a cheer by Roy's baseball team and has morphed into a campaign to unite our love of baseball with our love of the Down syndrome community; spreading awareness and generating some much needed funding. We hope that by visiting all 30 baseball parks and much of our nation, we can share some of the love that brightens our lives everyday.

Q. What is gigi's playhouse?

A. GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center’s mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families and the community. They offer free therapeutic and educational programming to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Q. How does the fundraiser work?

A. It's so easy!  Just click on any Donate link and it will take you directly to GiGi's Playhouse official website.  After your tax-deductible donation, you will receive a receipt directly from GiGi's. 100% of the money you donate goes directly to GiGi's Playhouse of Phoenix. We will also be holding an online auction with all profits being donated to GiGi's Playhouse.

Q. How will the auction work?

A. Items such as game tickets, signed balls and memorabilia have been generously donated by teams and fantastic individuals.  You can check out the auction page to view the items and then follow the link to place your bids. As soon as it's all ready :)

Q. Doesn't some of the money pay for your trip?

A. No way! We made sure that your donation never touches our hands, ensuring that there's no question of where it's going or how you get that deduction to your accountant.  But if you want to help fund the trip, please let us know :)  Seriously, the best way you can help is by following our pages, spreading our message and sharing our info.

Q. Why should I donate?

A.  1 in 700 people in the US are born with Down syndrome and yet most communities face a severe lack of support and resources that would enable these individuals to flourish.  Our states and school systems are overwhelmed and cannot offer the services needed to help people with Down syndrome become independent members of our society. GiGi's Playhouse fills this gap by offering a lifelong commitment to the development, education and support to these individuals and their families free of charge.
